Great Book

Just finished this book and it is AMAZING!

Very emotional, but well worth every tear spent!

One of my favorite quotes from the book:

It is my most urgent wish to be reborn. It is the only wish I have now, the only desire left to me. Everything else, all passion, all hope, slowly fades to the point where I cannot see it anymore. It is difficult for me to even imagine a time when passion moved me, or hope lifted me. I want nothing that I used to want, which makes me not the person that I used to be. We create ourselves through what we desire, and I don't know who I am anymore.

WOW! Enjoy!

Daisy D Class by Jody

So I am going to teach a class at my house on July 13th from 3-5ish. We will also be having high tea! I just love the Daisy D wonder collection so I am going to be using that. We will be making a mini book and some other goodies. Plus I have a few tricks up my sleeve to share. The class is going to be $27 and includes everything you need, you will get everything you see in the picture, 8x8 pad, buttons, flowers and ribbon, plus mini album and more, (please bring you basic supply kit), high tea, and tons of fun! I have been dying to play with you guys!

Right now I only have enough kits for 5. I can get more but need to know ASAP. Please post here or email me jwaters4@suddenlink.net if you want to come. AND please come if you sign up. This is all coming out of my pocket (and fyi, I am only charging what it is going to cost me- because I love you all and LOVE to play with you) and it will not go over well with hubby if I charge all this and no one show up. THANKS

I am back

What a great weekend! I am so blessed to have been given the chance to work the Chrysalis this past weekend. To watch those young girls grow closer to Christ. WHAT A GIFT.

So sorry I did not do craft Sunday. I was so exhausted last night and I needed to give what little energy I had left to my family. We will get back on track this weekend. I will give you until Sat. to send my pic of the last two crafts to be entered into a drawing for some goodies.

NYOBC is this weekend and it is the last one of our 3 month course. Since we still do not have a buyer for the store I will continue to do bookclub. If you are interested please come to class on Sunday at 1:30 or Tuesday night at 5:30. This will be the last NYOBC meeting at SU. BUT we will continue to play at my house. NYOBC will continue to be on the third Sunday of the month. I will no longer have 2 meetings. We will only have a Sunday meeting. I am actually glad about this. I have always hated that everyone does not get to see EVERYONE'S wonderful artwork. I will be adding lots of fun things to bookclub and we will continue to be a great group of women who love crafting. I will be changing up a few things (for the better) so be sure to come either Sunday or Tuesday. If you can not make it but want to either continue to be involved or would like to join the fun, please email me ASAP
jwaters4@suddenlink.net so I know how many kits to order.

I've missed you all!

Hi... Remember me? Ami-- the "other" one! Sorry I have been out of the blogging loop lately, but life has been so busy for me since school got out... My husband had 2 back surgeries in Plano, one on June 2 and one on June 9. On the weekend in-between the two surgeries, I had to take my Girl Scout troop camping! (The trip was planned way before the surgeries, and I could not change/get out of it.) Anyway, after several "minor" complications following my husbands surgeries, we finally were able to come home last Tuesday-- Just in time for me to take a CPR Instructor's course on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Yes, I am exhausted, but I can now say that my sleeping bags are put away, my husband is medicated, I am certified to teach people how to save lives, and the 9th load of laundry is in the dryer! I think next week is going to be a little calmer.
I'm hoping to get a group together to crop soon~ anyone want to play?

#3

Wanted to get you #3 before I was MIA for a week!

I choose for my #3 for the 3 places I call home. All three states hold a very special place in my heart.
(I have no clue why it is upside down and backward but NO time fix right now. SORRY)

Baby!

Here is my new (only) little neice or nephew. Had to share!

HELP

I am in need of an 80's Prom dress.

For this thing I am doing this weekend I need to dress up in 80's Prom attire. And I had one (of course) but can not find it and Bill is so done tearing the garage apart. I need it by tomorrow at 12:00 (Thursday).

Anyone out there have anything I could borrow. I have looked at all second hand stores, etc. no luck. I need it in a size 12 probably. Even one of those awful bridesmaids dresses will work.

Call me (655-6566), email (jwaters4@suddenlink.net), I will pick it up. Or if you are out just bring it by. WHATEVER. Desperate here!!!

LOVE YOU
Thanks

Jody

Great Challenge

So over at the super cool Crafter's Site I sent you to a little while ago they did an old chair challenge.

Here are all the people who entered. Check them out. Some are really super cool. And they show before pic. way amazing.

Margarita TIME!

I love a good Margarita.
Just in time for summer Martha has a fun frozen margarita Good Thing: Heat 1 cup sugar and 1 1/2 cups water in a small saucepan, stirring to dissolve sugar. Stir in 2 cups fresh lime juice. Pour into 9 X 13 inch metal pan and freeze overnight. Just before serving, scrape with a spoon until slushy. Stir in 1 cup tequila (it really does make a difference if you use a bit higher quality tequila). Transfer to glasses and garnish with lime! Viva Margarita! From July 2008 Martha Stewart Living

Group Project! #2

So 2 is my children of course. Jordan and Wyatt. Could not ask for 2 more beautiful, caring, talented kids. (Not saying they don't drive me CRAZY) But yes I am blessed!

Sunday, June 15

Just made it!

Wow, 11:35 pm, BUT still Sunday.

Here is my finished frame, BUT what I am putting on it is not finished. I just added some of the things I found today (including an offering envelope from my families church in CA same Church everyone was married in, etc.) Anyway, it will take me a couple of days of adding, changing, etc. to get everything on it the way I want it. BUT it is done!

YEAH.... I am really happy with how it turned out. Wished I had used more buttons I did 4 across and 7 down wish I had done more across. Maybe I will add some "fake" ones.

Enjoy.

What shall we do next Sunday?

Don't forget you have until next Sunday to send me a picture of this project.

Treasures!

So while working on my Sunday craft I really wanted some vintage buttons. My mom and dad are in Corpus (getting to see the 1st sonogram of my brothers baby--- I am so not bitter!!) so I went over to moms and was looking for her sewing stuff when I found a box of all this GREAT old family stuff. Funeral programs from forever, letters, photos, even an article about a great uncle who Walt Disney film on his ranch. I had always heard the stores about Walt himself having lunches etc. with my family but really never believed it. I found a newspaper article about it!! My great-grandma "promotion" letters, even their bills from the local store. HOW cool. Yes, I did find buttons and my grandmothers sewing scissors which I so remember because I was not allowed to cut paper with them (now I so get that).

Even the boxes that everything is in are cool. One is a Halmark Christmas card box. 25 cards for $1.00!

Was so excited I wanted to share. Now off to sew the buttons onto my fabric. And now I have some way cool stuff to hang on my buttons when I am done.

Ready to make something?

So like I said before this is a Rebecca Sower idea. She is so amazing. Check out her site for her pictures of the awesome project.

http://rebeccasower.typepad.com/rs_out_of_hand/2008/06/handmade-from-1.html

Cut a piece of thin plywood, matboard or foamboard to fit frame opening. Cut a piece of sturdy fabric big enough to wrap around board. Decide how you want your old buttons to be spaced and mark the places where you'll stitch on the buttons. Stitch the buttons on (not too tight). Spray the board with spray adhesive if you have it. Place the fabric over the board and wrap around to the back of the board. Secure the board to the frame. And then you get to have fun...coming up with what you'd like to hang on the buttons. An inspiration board? Family photos? Your button card collection? Anything could work and you can change them out as you like. (from Rebecca Sower)

Doesn't this look great. That Rebecca S. so talented. Can't wait to start on my own. I know exactly where I am going to hang it.

Post my own pictures later. Have fun!!!

Craft Sunday

Don't forget Craft Sunday

Here is a picture of my supplies all out and ready to play.

piece of foam board (on the back is a poster Jordan had to make- RECYCLE)

See you tomorrow.

Sharing a Secret...

Growing up Homemade Ice Cream was a big deal in our house. My parents even opened a Homemade Ice Cream and Candy shop. We have this old "family" recipe and everything. So a couple of years ago I wanted to make homemade ice cream for the kids. I was at wal-mart and saw this green (to match my kitchen) ice cream maker so OF COURSE I had to have it. And it was pretty cheap. Well they had these mixes next to them and I thought well I'll give it a try. Thinking no way it would pass my very well developed ice cream palette. WELL they are great! And soooooo easy. Dump it in, add 4 cups milk and off you go! I am so serious. They even have flavors and sherbets. All just needing 4 cups milk. Of course, vanilla is always every one's fav. but the sherbets are very good! My parents even approve. I bought a bunch of mixes last summer so I have not gone to look this year, but I am sure Wal-mart still sells it. AT LEAST I HOPE so. So make a wallie run and be a total hero to your family. Just don't let them see how easy it is to make! So like the commercial where the moms acts like she cooks all day when she really just read a book! Comment and tell me how great your family thinks you are after they get their treat!

Summer makes Me cook

I know the heat of summer should drive me out of the kitchen but I love to find yummy salads, breads, chilled soups, etc. in the summer. I think maybe because I tend to have more time to cook. Makes it more fun. So anyway, when we were in NY Bill and I fell in love with a Bakery named Panera's. We have sinced discovered they are in a lot of big cities. They are so great. Wonderful fresh yummies. Their website has recipes! I love a restraunt that shares!!!
Check them out. I am planning on making the chilled cucumber soup on Sunday. I'll tell you how it turns out.

Hello! and next group project, NYOBC, Plus more news

Ok, so sorry. Been a little crazy around here. BUT the most wonderful news: My son accepted Christ at VBS this week! So great. And I am so lucky to have Renea, Becky, Debbie, Regan, Colleen, and I am sure I am missing someone, anyway, such great friends who worked VBS and got to share this moment with me. So very exciting week.

I have also gone now for almost 2 weeks without AMI. This is really hard for me. I truly do not feel myself. But she will be home this weekend. YEAH. John is doing great and life should be back to normal soon! We will be sending out an email about when the store will be open next week. Look for a BIG sale. We need to get it all cleaned out! Perfect time for you to get some organizing stuff for your own scrap space this summer.

So next group project!

I am so excited about this one. Hint, Hint.

This project will go nicely with our ABC book. It is....... 1,2,3
Numbers play an important role in our lives. They can symbolize an important date, the number of children you have, or just a lucky number. So lets pay tribute to those special numbers in our lives.
I am going to go literally 1, 2, 3. Here is my number one.

My number one is My God, My Faith. I struggle every day with keeping Him front and center, aka. #1 in my life but this is what I wanted to show as my 1.

I decided to try my hand at a little hybrid scrapping. I just found a font I liked at dafont.com and then added pictures. I have printed it out on Cardstock and then cut it out in the shape of a the 1. I will do this with every number, punch a hole and ring together. On the back of each number I am journaling. I will have more pictures ready soon. But wanted you to get started. Just like before PLEASE send me picture when you get a page done so we can all play along. jwaters4@suddenlink.net

Here is the blank one I used. You could always print this one and then glue pictures to it.

Check out this great new site I found

It has so many craft ideas, totally crazy. WARNING. Do not go to the site unless you have hours to burn!

Speaking of crafts!!

I had so much fun with last Sunday's Craft with me. I am going to do it again. I know this Sunday is Father's day but while they are golfing lets CRAFT!

Now no-one sent me any pic. of their t-shirt pants but I know you guys still want to play with me. So I will post the idea Sunday morning and then what I made on Sunday night.

JOIN ME!

Here is the supply list so you can be ready to play:

old frame

plywood, or foam board (cut the size of inside of frame)

piece of linen or any fabric you like (a little bigger then board)

buttons

spray adhesive

needle and thread

This is so great (a Rebecca Sower Project) you are so going to be jealous if you don't do this with me!

NYOBC will be the last weekend of June.

So sorry for the date change... But I am working a walk for the church the weekend of the 19-22! (BTW please add myself and the 15 teenage girls on the walk that weekend. Randi Havlak, and Sherry Halfman are also working, to your prayers and thoughts. This is my first walk to work and I am both excited and very nervous!! I know God has great things planned for this weekend) Anyhow, that puts the walk off one more weekend. SO sorry. Just more doodling time. I have seen the next book and it looks really cool. Also if you want to continue with me or JOIN up please let me know ASAP. I have lots of great plans for NYOBC.

Here is a sample of one of the binders finished! It is so cute. I have finished mine and LOVE it. Can't wait to share it with you. I have decided to start taking pictures of projects I do as gifts and putting them in this binder to help me remember what I do. I never thought I would forget what I made but... Guess I am getting old. This binder is also great to store poems, quotes, layout ideas, sketches, etc.

One last thing...
Please let me know you are out there.

To encourage you to post a comment. I will be doing another RAK... So post a comment to this post by Sunday and my kids will draw a name for a really cool gift from me.

Love you guys

Thanks for reading!

NYOBC how is your Doodling Coming

I found this great site. She is an amazing artist.
Check out her site.

Swap Finished!

This really turned out to be a lot of fun. Here is what I came up with for "My Favorite Things" Swap. There are over 300 playing in this!

How great is it that I found a scrapbook mag. with my colors on the cover! Tray also includes, journal, mints (in matching tin), homemade cards, matching flower mini album, fabric swatches, scrapbook paper (attached with a matching clip), stamp set, pens, ribbon, more ribbon, and then the totally cool tray.

The card reads:

Well, this swap turned out totally different than what I had planned. I was going to send a bottle of my favorite wine, great music, and a book, candle, etc. Then I found the "It's all about me" journal and thought that was cute. Then came the tray that matched perfect and there you go. So really the things are not my favorite BUT my favorite, favorite thing if for things to match. So it is so me. Enjoy.

A funny

So this summer I am really trying to make my kids do more around the house. I mean they always have to clean their room, dishes, etc. but we think they are now old enough to really help out. So last night I asked Wyatt to clean the kitchen after dinner. He did everything from clear the table to load dishwasher to put food away. He had asked what to do with the hot dogs (I know GREAT dinner mom- so not my point here) and I told him to put them in a ziplock bag and put away. Later last night Bill went to the pantry for a midnight snack and came back laughing. I asked what was up and he told me to go look. Instead of the fridge, which I just assumed was an unspoken bit of knowledge my 8 year old should have, he put them in the pantry. :) Ask for help and you have to be willing to accept what you get.

Have a great day.

Craft Sunday

YEAH! These were so much fun and SOOOOO easy. Jordan and Regan even made their own pair by themselves and are going to wear them to VBS tomorrow (they made their pants out of last year's VBS shirt!) Wyatt even wanted me to make him a pair. I don't think he can wear them out, but he was thrilled and is sleeping in them right now. Did I mention how Comfy they are! And the size actually works perfect. Just use a T-shirt that is about one size too big for who you are making them for.

In this picture you can see the second pair (green) ones that Jordan made. We made 6 pair this afternoon. I could not talk Bill into a pair. I promise these are so easy give it a try and post the picture to win a prize from me!

Sunday afternoon craft

OK, finally I get to craft. I am so excited. Let's do something together. I found this super great idea to do with a large T-shirt. It may not work but lets give it a try. Here are the directions:

We will be turning a t-shirt into cargo pants!
I am so not a sew-r, but I think even I can follow these directions. I will post my finished project (no matter what the look like later today) Post your project by Friday to be entered into a drawing for an RAK from me!

What's going on

Hey everyone. So how was your weekend?

I had so much fun with family but why does everything revolve around eating? Here is my family, my parents, my mom's brother from CA, his wife, my cousin and his wife and child. ALWAYS take a group picture any time any family is together. I did not do this at my wedding and we have lost so many loved ones since. All those people were never together again. So no matter how much everyone "grumbles" I always set my timer and take a group pict.

Look what the kids found in our bush!

Friday, June 6

change of plans

I was so planning on Scrapping today. I have a lot of ideas floating around in my head that I am dying to sit and create. BUT NO. Instead the kids and I are doing the FLIGHT OF THE BUMBLE BEE cleaning! Got a call last night that my aunt and uncle, cousin, wife and child will be here today from CA. This very normal for my family (which Drives Bill crazy. He does not understand how my family just SHOWS up from all across the country. I was impressed that we got a days notice. My dads side of the family usually calls from Eden (they come OK)) ANYWAY, needless to say my house is no where near ready for company.

So creative juices are put away for another day. Oh I am so sad.
