School Of Life Workshop
I am so excited about this workshop. I spent all of Monday night going through, count them, 5 big, black, garbage bags FULL of the kids school "stuff"! I got pizza boxes from Pizza Hut (FREE by the way) and put the kids stuff I wanted to keep from each grade in a box. I will now get two boxes at the beginning of each year and only keep a SAMPLING of their work not EVERYTHING. Oh so liberating.
Anyway, now that all the memorabilia is organized now I just have to find their school pics, class pics, and about 10 pics from each year and I am all ready for Saturday the 8th.
I have some fabulous sketches for us to pick from and some great school stuff coming in to play with. After Saturday, I will have school albums for my kids through high school. I just hope the time does not fly by as quickly as these albums will be to put together!
P.S.- I got a pre-order email from Daisy D and it had the greatest school papers and embellishments! I called and it will not be ready to ship until the 10th. So I sweet talked my way into shipping us the papers (the only thing ready). So we will be the first store ANYWHERE by 2 weeks to get the paper. TOO COOL! I spoil ya'll. :)

A Huge Moment For Me!
Ok, for some of you my recent scrapbook revelation is already second nature for you but for me it was HUGE.
Because of a slip disk in my neck I have been spending a lot of time on my couch. I have been using the time to catch up on my scrapbook reading. Last night I grabbed Stacey Jillian's (who is one of my all time favorite presenters) book, THE BIG PICUTRE, and I will never be the same. I know that sounds a little dramatic but it is true.
I had flipped though the book before like I do so many others, never really reading it, just looking cool layouts to maybe one day scrap lift. But something in the book made me REALLY READ it. If you do not have it or have just skimmed it you are missing the truly BIG picture behind the book. Her whole philosophy on scrapbooking and how to organize finished pages, for me, is so liberating. She does not worry, at all, about how “behind” she is. And she in no way scraps chronologically. She focuses instead on the moments and what they mean to the people she loves!
I know you are thinking “Duh Jody, you have been telling us that for years”. But it is one thing for me to preach it to you and another for me to really live it. Kinda like a do as I say not as I do thing. Anyway, I woke up this morning 10lbs. lighter from my guilt of 2001 being the last completed album I have on my shelf but more important I woke up excited about scrapbooking again!
Thank you so much for letting me babble. I wanted to share with ya’ll my scrapbook “AWAKENING” in hopes that someone else might need a good refocusing like I did! LOVE YOU GUYS!
Have a VERY HAPPY SCRAPPIN DAY!! Jody
P.S.– I almost did not write this this morning because we are out of the THE BIG PICTURE at the store. But was just so excited and wanted to share that I could not wait. Ami did order them this morning so they should be in next week if you would like one.
P.P.S– One of Stacey’s album ideas is a School album for each child with ONLY 5 pages for each year! WOW, I can do that and I am going to do it on July 8th at the store, IN ONE DAY! (or at least have a lot of fun trying!) If you want to join me check out the July calendar for more details. You can do it for yourself if you don’t have children, you can do it if you child just started or just graduated college!

First Challenge
SU Blog challenge
Ok here we go! If you were at Dean's List last night then you already know that we are going to start an SU blog challenge! Every two weeks I will post a new challenge for ya'll. Do it every time, once a month, or whenever you like. All you have to do is what you do best, SCRAP. Send me your layout (one or two page, any size) via email at either scrapbookuniversity@cox.net or jwaters4@cox.net and we will have a random drawing for gift certificates for SU! How easy is that? If you do not have a scanner all you need to do is take a picture with your digital camera. Just make sure you send the images in JPEG. I will be choosing some to post on the blog.
I am so excited to have a challenge again. We have not done any in a while and it should be loads of fun plus you get some SU $$.
So get scrappin!!
Great Freestyle Blog
I found another great freestyle artist. The blog is in a different language but the layouts are great.

If YOU WERE A LITTLE GIRL IN THE 70'S ...
A Girlfriend of mine sent this to me and I thought you guys might enjoy it (it would also make a great scrapbook page with some of those way cool school pics!) HAVE FUN!
You learned to skate with actual skates (not roller blades) that had metal wheels.
You thought Gopher from Love Boat was cute (admit it!)
You had either a "bowl cut" or "pixie," not to mention the "Dorothy Hamill". People sometimes thought you were a boy.
You begged Santa for the electronic game, Simon.
Your hairstyle was described as having "wings" or "feathers" and you kept it "pretty" with the comb you kept in your back pocket.
You carried a Muppets lunch box to school and it was metal, not plastic. With the thermos inside!
You completely wore out your Grease, Saturday Night Fever, and Fame soundtrack record album.
You made Shrinky-Dinks and put iron-on kittens on your t-shirts!
You used to tape record songs off the radio by holding your portable tape player up to the speaker.
You thought Olivia Newton John's song "Physical" was about aerobics.
You wore friendship pins on your tennis shoes, or shoelaces with heart or rainbow designs.
You drowned yourself in Love's Baby Soft - which was the first "real" perfume you ever owned .. .
Does this mean that I am getting old if my childhood is so "dated"??? Too Funny! Guess I will have to put this list on my 35th b-day layout next month!

on "The Scrapbook Lounge"! Check us out at http://www.crafttvweekly.com/site/retailerspotlight.php?rspotid=39&time=1149436652
This site is pretty cool... Every week, they have a different class or "webisode" that they offer online. You can either pay monthly to subscribe, or a la carte for specific classes. (You can look around the site for free, you just have to pay to view the classes.)
