RAK Give-a-way!
In order to jump start the holiday season, we are going to do a RAK give-a-way. Do you know what RAK stands for? It's Random Act of Kindness. Consider it our gift to you. A gift. For what? Just for coming to our little home on the web and reading about the happenings about our home on Garrett.
Here's how it will work. Between now and Friday at midnight, leave a comment on any of the current posts here on this site. Any of them. Not the past entries. From here on up. Then Saturday morning, we will take all of the comments, print them out and draw for a winner. What will the winner receive? Who knows? It's a season for giving and this is a perfect place for us to start. Be sure to put your name somewhere in the comment though. We don't want to always wonder who anonymous was!
We will post the winner's name Saturday morning. Then she (or he, boys can play, too!) will just need to come by the store to pick up your treat! It's that simple. So, why not play? The only rule, just one entry per person. Well, and no entering your pet's or kid's names.
Sound fun? Let's play!
Holiday Hugs,
Jody & Ami

Jesse Tree- I have 4 books
How is everyone doing? All 25 days are now filled and I have seen of the completed ornaments and they are WONDERFUL. Don't forget they are due on the 27th. Plan on coming to SU to share your ornaments, read scriptures, and enjoy in some fellowship!
Be sure to bring your ornaments in some kind of box so that you can easily carry all your new ornaments home. You will also need to have a copy of the scripture that your ornament goes with to read as you place your ornament on the tree. If you do not have the Jesse Tree you can use any Bible or I can copy the page from my book for you. Some people are writing the scripture on the back of their ornament. This will not work for all. For those that are mailing, I will get them in the mail on the 28th so that you can get them back in time for Advent.
I got my first order of books in from Amazon today. They are really very sweet. I have now totally lost track of who "told" me (not in writing) that they wanted a book. They will be at the store tomorrow for $13.99. It will be first come first serve. If you still want one and do not get one of these 4 let me know RIGHT AWAY.
I am really looking forward to ths evening. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to bring a dessert to share.

I will have my book on display at the store, so you can come by to look at it... I cannot wait to start our new Thanksgiving tradition this year! And, I know of at least 9 others that will be starting theirs too!
If you want to make your own book, come by the store, and we can give you some ideas on how to put one together. We still have these beautiful papers in the store. They are fun and easy to make!

Jesse Tree
Jesse was the father of King David. King David is one of Jesus’ ancestors. The prophet Samuel to establish a royal family anointed David King. A thousand years later Jesus was born in this royal line of David in Bethlehem, the ancient of City of David. The Jesse Tree is composed of ornaments which remind us of the promise of salvation made by God at the fall of Adam and Eve and the ancestors of Jesus from Adam to Our Lady and events in salvation history. They also remind us of the Jewish symbols and types of Christ and the Church.
The Jesse Tree represents the 4000 years of salvation history when God prepared His people, the Jews, for the coming of the Savior. This is the theme of the 4 weeks of Advent.
