Mom of the Year

So I am NEVER in the running for Mom of the Year but I did pull a Great mom stunt today. I got the kids a Webkinz Anniversary cake today and when they got out of the shower it and ALL their Webkinz were on the bar. Way to go me. Too bad I have already put myself out of the running by all my other not so stellar mom moments! :)

I love Fonts!

I don't know if it my journalism background, but I LOVE FONTS! There are some really great font sites out their but I have found a real good one... http://www.dafonts.com/ and they are FREE! Installing fonts is actually really easy. You can usaully find directions for your computer under the help. Just download them then install them in your fonts folder. Note: they will not work until they are installed. Don't be scared... give it a try.

You could spend days on this site looking at all the cool fonts. ENJOY

A Note from Jody and Ami

Ok, I know I said I would keep up with the blog and have not been doing a good job at that. I am actually a little surprised (good surprised) by how many of you are saying you miss it. The problem with blogging is that unless people post you do not know if anyone out there is even reading your posts. Until, of course, they come into the store and complain. :)

Seriously, it made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside knowing that you not only read the blog but it is a part of your day!

So, last week I was in a serious FUNK! I don't know if it was finally the news about the store, being crazy busy at the school, some DUMB junk going on with a "friend", or me pouting because Bill had to work the track meet this weekend instead of going on our annual Bluebonnet trip. (I can do a serious pout). But blogging just did not seem to come. I tried and just was not in the mood. BUT I am better now. Took a serious 4 hour nap today and am all better.

I do want to address every one's fears of the store closing. THIS DOES NOT MEAN THE END OF SCRAPBOOK UNIVERSITY! Ami and I have put way too much blood, sweat, and tears into building Scrapbook University. And more importantly, the friendships we have created with you. We have been through way too much with each of you. It is amazing how our "business" allowed us the honor of becoming friends with each of you. My memories of SU are filled with many tears, laughs, struggles, husband bashing and bragging, children frustrations, losses, weddings, and births. How many afternoons were spent just chatting about whatever, usually nothing life shattering yet somehow so important to our "girl bonding". Nothing has made us smile more than when you would just stop by on lunch hour or on your way home because SU was your "happy place". WOW what a compliment.

So we PROMISE, we love each of you too much just to "close the doors" and say goodbye. We will still be doing bookclub. One of my favorite ways of playing with ya'll. We will still be having crops at least once a month at someones home. I LOVE the store in Fredricksburg (and I love Fredricksburg). I will be going once a month probably to shop. You are all invited. What a great way to spend a Saturday. Shopping, lunch, a winery or two! We will also be keeping our contacts with several of our FAVORITE companies. I will be posting new lines if you want it let us know and we will get it. We will be staying in contact through the blog. THAT means you will have to post.

So this is not goodbye. Just a little change.

Serious FUN to come for all of us!

Ever Wonder Group

Next Question:

Do you let yesterday use up too much of today?

EVER WONDER: ask questions and live into the answers!

The quality of our lives is in direct proportion to the quality of the questions we ask ourselves. Ever Wonder is a unique book of questions that raises our awareness of our own self-talk and points us toward life-enriching change.

Here are just a few examples of the inspiring questions you will find: When was the last time you did something for the first time? Do you treat love as a noun or a verb? A unique, inspiring and empowering book. A can't-miss gift for all those people who strive for the "more" of life.

I have 8 copies of this book left because I knew everyone would want one. It would make a perfect graduation gift! Don't forget one for you!

A Message from Ami & Jody

(Many of you may have received this in an email... for those of you not on our list, here's the message we sent.)

Dear Friends,

Over the past several months, our lives have grown increasingly busy. As our children are becoming older, they are involved in more time-consuming activities, and we have found ourselves time and time again having to choose between participating in family activities, and going to work at the store to be with our scrapbook family. It has been more and more difficult for us to keep up with the responsibilities of owning Scrapbook University, as well the responsibilities of our families.

Together, we have made the decision that it would be best to sell or close Scrapbook University. In the past five years, you all have become far more than customers; you have become our second family. As you can imagine, this is a very difficult decision for us, but we feel that it is the best choice for our families and our futures.
We are hoping to stay involved in the scrapbook community in San Angelo, by doing several things:

  • First, we will continue to post to our Blog. In doing so, we will be continuing our group projects and posting of scrapbook trends and tidbits that we find. For so many of us, the blog has become a way to stay connected to the scrapbooking industry and to each other, and we just cannot give that up.

  • We will continue to have our own Book Club chapter. This way, we will be able to maintain the many friendships that we have made, and see your smiling faces at least once a month.
We will also hold Community “Alumni” Crops several times a year, to stay in touch with as many of you as possible. We have grown to love all of you, and enjoy seeing your lives through photographs and layouts.

  • For those of you already signed up for National Scrapbook Day, you are in for a treat; although this will be our last NSD, it will still be our store’s 5th birthday party, and it will be the biggest and best by far!

It is our wish for Scrapbook University to continue, so hopefully we will find the perfect buyer to make Scrapbook University their own. Since the business has so many pieces to it, there are several options for purchasing the store. It can be purchased as it is, with the furnished Bed & Breakfast attached; or just the scrapbook store itself can be purchased, without furniture in the B&B (If this is the case, the building can possibly be shared with another business).

We will continue to offer retreats until the building is sold. Don’t forget, they are still at the discounted rate of $400 per weekend, for the entire group (up to 8).

We cannot thank you all enough for your support of Scrapbook University over the past five years. We have been truly blessed to be a part of such an amazing group of women.

Sincerely,
Ami & Jody

EVER WONDER

Next Group Project:

A book of amazing “life questions” to challenge, delight,
entertain and inspire the important people in your life.
When was the last time you did something for the first time?
What do you pack to pursue a dream, and what do you leave behind?
The answers open new doors that enrich life.

Our next group project uses this amazing book as inspiration. We will be creating an unique album answering interesting questions and diving deep within ourselves. It will be fun, creative, inspiring, and enlightening. We will scrap, laugh, cry, and discover ourselves and each other.

Join me in our next group project this SUNDAY at 1:30. The project is $20 and includes your own copy of EVER WONDER, the base for the album, and all the other fun we will have over the next month.

If you want to play with us this next month, please call ASAP because I only have so many kits and books.

Come and Play and discover
yourself and how creative you can be.
